My project seeks to link two seemingly disparate elements: the natural and the artificial. I became interested in mineral growth and developed a hexagonal cellular roof structure to facilitate it. During the spring and summer months, the tops of the cells would allow in water, and the substrate inside would dissolve and grow into a crystalline structure. The crystals that had formed would block much of the summer sun, but would slowly evaporate over the fall and winter months, allowing sun to heat the inside.
